TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY (TCU) SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR TWO ASSISTANT PROFESSOR TENURE TRACK POSITIONS
Position 1 Specialization is open, although areas under special consideration are: symbolic interaction; social psychology; media, culture and digital sociology; sociology of education; sociology of disability; and law and transformative justice. It is favorable for applicants to have the skills, experience and willingness to teach in the research methods sequence and to help advance the applied and community engagement components of the sociology curriculum. In addition, the department seeks applicants who will contribute to and expand departmental programs and scholarship related to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. A Ph.D. in sociology is required. Successful candidates will have demonstrated success as a scholar and the capacity for excellence in the classroom. The teaching load is 3/2 and the salary and benefits are competitive.
Position 2 Specialization in medical sociology/sociology of health and illness. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is favorable: health disparities and health justice; intersectional, indigenous and/or postcolonial perspectives on health and illness; sexual and gender minority (SGM) health; aging and life course sociology, sociology of mental health; heath care education/training; and social epidemiology. The successful candidate will work with departmental and college faculty on health, medicine and social justice curriculum development. A Ph.D. in sociology is required. Successful candidates will have demonstrated success as a scholar and the capacity for excellence in the classroom. The teaching load is 3/2 and the salary and benefits are competitive.
