The Sociology Department at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) invites applicants for a tenure track position in the area of Latina/o Sociology. Specifically, we seek a colleague with training and interests focusing on Latina/o communities and/or populations whose research is engaged with any other disciplinary subfields, and who will be able to broaden or deepen programmatic strengths in those subfields. We are open to all methodological approaches, from qualitative to quantitative. Hiring will be considered at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with expectations commensurate with the rank of hire.
The Sociology Department at CSU Channel Islands is a vibrant and growing program seeking an energetic colleague to help us build a strong student-centered program – one that is both rigorous and developmental; that provides students with a foundation in systematic empirical inquiry; that is committed to community engagement; and which equally serves students preparing for graduate programs and those seeking direct entry into a range of careers. We value the teacher-scholar model for our faculty; candidates should therefore demonstrate a strong record in (or evidence of promise in) teaching, research, and service.
CSUCI is the newest campus in the California State University system, located in Ventura County (between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara) – a region shaped by urban, agricultural, and coastal influences. CSUCI is a Hispanic Serving Institution; we are dedicated to serving and mentoring a diverse student body, and to engaging deeply with our surrounding community. CSUCI promotes multicultural and international education, interdisciplinary inquiry, and community engagement; candidates are expected to share and demonstrate those commitments. The Ph.D. in Sociology is required by time of appointment. Candidates are encouraged to learn more about our campus and our program via our websites: www.csuci.edu and http://sociology.csuci.edu/. We welcome inquiries for additional information; please direct all inquiries to the Program Chair, Dennis Downey (email@example.com). Applications can be submitted online at: https://www.csucifacultyjobs.com. Review of applications will begin on September 1, 2017.
